    Any K-31 shooters?

Has anyone found a good cast bullet mold and load for 7.5 X 55 that is accurate?

Have had good luck with 311291 at .310, w/Lyman Orange Lube, 18 gr. of 2400, and 1/2gr. dacron fill. Shoots better than I can. Stays around an inch to an inch and a half at 50yds. Haven't shot it at 100 yet. Good Luck!

Ditto what 1 Shirt said about Lyman #311291 (I size mine to .309" though.) and what S. Wheeler said about 22gr. XMP 5744. I must also add that many Lyman and Lee designs that are undersized for the .30-06 and probably the .308Win. as well fit the smaller (7.5mm) bbls. of the K-31's. To wit, Ly.#311041 and Lee C-309-180R are viable choices. Other CB's to consider are Ly. #311466 & -467 (Loverins); Ly. #311644; Saeco #315 and even Lee's 113gr. "wadcutter" or "soupcan" (as it's known here) bullet, but not with 22gr. 5744.

I've had good luck using some samples a member sent me of an RCBS 30-180SP. Using 17.5gr of 2400, and with the boolit seated just barely shy of the lands, groups under an inch at 50 yards are common.

    Thanks Guys,
I'll have to give some of these a try. Keep us updated on your results, jballs918. 1Shirt, would you tell me about the Dacron and how to use it or point me to a link to educate me on it's use?

I been using the Lee 312/155 sized to 308, with 12 grains Unique gets 1-2 inches 50 yards, with my fuzzy eyes.well that and the monkey helped me on these loads, so I cant really guarantee them.

You may want to start out with 17 gr. of 4227 behind a 308-165-SIL bullet.

I too use the lee .312 155 grain cast bullet in the 7.5x55 swiss. Maven put me onto this one. I use surplus imr 7383. Good , cheap, accurate shootin.... Thanks to Maven's expertise. He is the go to man in my book for this load. Thanks again Maven. 8mmshooter

    Fellers,
I've had a K-31 for over a year and haven't fired a single round through it yet! Yesterday, I cast up some NEI 311-154 boolits and thought of the old girl standing in the corner. I'm thinking I'll start with some IMR-4227 as I have a lot that needs to be used up. Now, if I can figure out how to see the sights.........I'll keep you posted. -JDL

I cast a few up with a Lee 309-113-F and was wondering a good load to try in my K-31. I have some Alliant 2400 and Unique and Bullseye.

KYRich, Dacron fill is just dacron polyester that you can buy in any fabric store. I get it in sheets that are possibly an 8th. of an in and cut it in about 1/2" squares for 30 cals. and about a third of an inch for 22's. They weigh out on a scale at about 1/4 to 1/2 grain. Am about convinced however that I will not use fill any more with the fast shotgun type powders anymore, as they are not necessary. On the med burning powders, however, I will continue to use dacron fill. There are a number of fill threads on this web if you will check search. You will also find that there are many opinions on fills as you can imagine, some yea, some nay, and some someplace inbetween.
    Good Luck,
