Good news/ bad news. I jerked the trigger at #4 of 7 here. They will shoot! Unfortunately they won't feed. I have some proper profile boolits on the way, but I tried this hunting boolit first for grins.

WELL...... I seated them out to 2.05" but most importantly used a good magazine! I got two new Midway mags and one is going back. I ran these thru like goose grease and I like it. 40 yards, 10 shots.

I've loaded some more with the same powder charge of the OP- 25grs of 3031- a favorite 30-30 load. I think I've found my hunting load. About 2000 fps according to Hornady.

Winchester M1: If you ever have a untreatable attack of stupid you have a ready buyer for that rifle right here in Las Vegas. That is excellent accuracy in any rifle but more so with a Ruger Ranch Rifle. HooRah!

I was astonished at WinchesterM1's accuracy- until I realized he was referring to a Ruger American rifle- NOT the Mini- 30 ranch rifle!

I just got an ARStoner upper in 7.62X39 from Midway plus a few 10rd mags and a 30 rd for fun. I use a lee 312-155 aluminum gas checked sized to .312" using Lyman moly lube OAL 2.145". I have IMR4227 and my accuracy load for my CZ527 is 15 gr of IMR 4227. I got reliable cycling with loads down to 14 gr of 4227 in 10 rd mags but best performance at 15gr using a 30 rd mag. With 500+ rounds of casting just run a dry patch down the bore and it a mirror. Groups were running under 2" at 50 yards until my dot sight decided to stop working. I can pick pieces of clay pigeons all day at 50 yards and pigeons at 100 yards. Too much fun. When I get my dot back I will continue optimizing this combination.

reliable cycling with loads down to 14 gr of 4227 Hmm. 13gr in a BO? After I de-lead the barrel - pushed them way too fast. Been looking for a plinker load under a 145gr PB.
    Whatever!

I shot 3 -3shot groups in the microwave heat that is North Texas yesterday. 25grs of 3031 with the C309150F PC'd went 1", Wolf fmj went 1", and dead last at 3"+ was the C312155 with conventional lube plus LLA over 20grs of AA1680. By then I'm soaking wet from sweat so I retreated to ice tea and AC. All shooting done @40 yds on sandbags.
    I. Hate. Summer.

Popper I hope you use a soda can gas check, I use checks on all my gas guns and have no leading.

Looks like jmax just answered curators question. Conventional lube and a ar15 platform. Let’s pay attention to that folks. The myth debunked.

19gr 4227 is a book load but not for soft PB alloy. With harder alloy I get moa @ 100, 2100 fps. Just tinkering here. When you get a puff of smoke & no hole on target, yea, screwed up. Chore boy time. Done it before, this wont be the last
    Whatever!

I think these will work for close range deer/ pig. 50/50 coww/ lead PC Lee 150fp sized .311" over 25 grs of IMR 3031. I put 5 into 2"@100yds yesterday. Not my best effort but it'll hunt.

Yeah I have 2 of the Ruger American ranch rifle 7.62x39s. One is set up for 400 yards and one is set up for hunting, I also have a upper I built for an AR in what I call 7.62x38 ultra its a straight walled ackley improved 7.62x39 it allows for 7 more grn of powder in the case which gets me a 150 grn bullet to about 2450-2500fps with the right brass
Here it is next to a normal case
    Attachment 246476
The best part about the upper is that I can use Tula or Wolf polyproformance (which keeps 1MOA for me out of my RAR) and it shoots and cycles normal 7.62x39 no problem but I can also load it to ALMOST mimic lower 308 loads

BTW the alloy I was using for that expanded boolit was 50/50 WW/PB with some Tin I have killed 3-4 deer a year for the past 3 years with that same load and they all just drop other than that doe last year that moved 20 feet or so

Did you have a reamer made or is it available as a rental? 150@2500 is tempting.

I shot these from a sitting position at 100 yards. I like this load. (C309150F. 311" PC /25grs of 3031)
The pipe is 3/4" for scale

Just wrote this up 2 weeks ago. My 7.62x39 load. Also use the lee 160 grain .312. It's very good.

I have seen improved 7.62 x 39 cases shown elsewhere. Kind of like a 6.5 grendel opened up to 30 cal. I think they call it the 30 major. I think it would be great in an AR

I'm trying the Lee 155gr at .311" over 20grs of Acc1680 and the RCBS 32-115(122 grs)313" over 19 hrs of IMR 4198. The latter is fat in the nose so had to be seated deeper than I wanted.
I hope to try them soon.

Me wants that x39 improved or whatever they call it. I am using a BCA barrel and fighting it all the way but it is starting to come around. I had a heavy trigger that was hurting the accuracy but I keep working on it and much better now. I gotta get a can of 3031.
    Look twice, shoot once.

Hot, dry wind so why not shoot? I'd just laid 900' of gas line so fatigue may have.....never mind. Apologies - but Hornady has loads for .308" jwords so I tried some. I'm not that impressed. The cast loads weren't good either except the load I just knew Would Not group- the .309" PC Lee 155. I'm going back to the C309150F (PC)sized .311" over 25gr/3031. The six shot mixed boolit group with the 22-250 was fun; shooting at a 1" sharpie dot with my .41 was a waste of time( not the gun!)
