Don't thank me...thank Mr. Larsen. This was group think. I personally liked the bigger bands and shorter nose...but I stayed out of it. You guys can be a finicky bunch and I am thankful that he stepped up a refereed the process to a consensus.

Sir. I meant that in the nicest possible way. Storming, forming and norming over a forum about something we all know a little bit about can be a daunting task.

No lube grooves is an option on all new runs. Problems come up when this option is added to an existing design. Had to do with the number of cherries that have to be added to a run.

I would have gone for the wider bands but I am so happy with this design I can't wait for it to go into production. Just hope others will jump onto this buy.

I also want others to get in on this.
I am so invested in this, I will make it happen one way or another.
You want a wide band, ditch the lube groove.
    I PC and Hi-Tek.
    NLG and you are golden.

No we want a .458 SCOM bullet
You have neglected this thread and went dark on the original thread.
Bullet needs bigger bands and needs more weight.
I will still keep my order as I need an HP, but I will just have Tom cut a 500 + grain mold and a 350 grain mold while this slow boat moves forward. Really not what we asked for. We do not want a Swiss Army Knife that works on everything, just a .458 SOCOM around 350 grains.
There is not even one caliber in the case.
Once again, this is a good place to start.

I'm with jmort and his declarations about the C460-305S- 458 SOCOM. I also think there is a significant difference between the C460-305S- 458 SOCOM and what was covered in the discussion thread. I'm not here to point fingers but would rather say fun was had now lets get back on track.

There's so much that could be done with this cartridge from 600 grain subs to 500 grain HPs. With the cost of socom bullets it shouldn't be too hard to generate interest for a boolit worthy of the socom. There is over 1700 hits on the discussion thread. I just don't think a multi cal wonder boolit makes the grade.
Oh great, another thread that makes me spend money.

It has been an interesting/fun discussion. I agree let's get this back on track.
    We stalled, again.
    This is spot-on:

I'd like to keep this buy as a primarily .458 SOCOM bullet in the 300-350gr range.

I think a 500-600gr bullet should be a different group buy.

jmort, I agree with you but I don't understand what you mean when you write, "There is not even one caliber in the case."

I also agree with thraxx when he writes, "I'd like to keep this buy as a primarily .458 SOCOM bullet in the 300-350gr range."

Basic rule, not scientific or set in stone, but if you have a .458" bullet, you want .458" + in the case. It has always made sense to me. Here, it appears to me, we are less than .360" in the case.

I think 350 is a good weight. Less could be OK.
Point, as I took it, was relating to the awesomeness of the .458 SOCOM and 500 to 600 grain freight trains.

Thanks for the explanation jmort, now I understand what you meant. So the 46-350 is perfect with .460 at the crimp location.
