Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.

Back in the 80s everyone was gonna get rich off ostriches. Many folks around here sunk their life savings into raising ostriches. Of course, the market bubble popped, and most folks list their shirts. Many people couldn't even feed the birds, so they just let them loose. That was in the early 90s

I was up in northern Okie-land, hunting with a friend, about 1992 or so. He came back to deer camp that night, empty-handed.

However, he had a fabulous story about seeing the biggest turkey in the world......

As far as I’m concerned ostrich meat is some of the most un-flavored blandest tasting meat I’ve ever tasted! I had someone wants borrow my horse trailer to transport some ostriches that he had bought to process for meat in return he gave me some meat . Besides the fact if you ostriches tore up the inside of my horse trailer it was the worst tasting meat I have ever eaten in my life. And I’ve eaten all Manner of game including possum, raccoon, squirrel, and obviously games such as venison. I fed the ostrich meat to My dogs.

I would think ostriches meat would taste like owl or chicken hawk, but with some Cajun seasoning would make good gumbo.

When it comes to critters and how they taste, you are what you eat.

The father of a guy I worked with a long time back raised some ostriches. He and his dad went to load them up and take them to a sale, but one of the birds kicked his dad and broke his arm and leg.

The next day at work he said he was planning a big chicken dinner, big enough to feed the whole sawmill.....

Ostriches and emus can also swing their head like a blackjack and pierce your skull with their beak very easily.

Not sure I want to be in the woods with such inhabitants, armed only with regular turkey weapons. Never thought I'd see the day when I had to also carry big game gun.
    Information not shared. is wasted.
