    Hornady LNL AP with Boolits

    Hi all..

IF, and only if, you use or have used the LNL with the powder through expander... How well do they work with PC'd cast bullets, do they expand and flare enough so they don't damage the coating on seating? I'll be doing primarily 45ACP and 9mm. Will seat and crimp separately.

    Thanks

Ran about 70,000 lubed cast bullets without a problem. Does take time to setup. And I seat and crimp separately. LNL's are not Dillon's if you don't take the time to setup right you will hate the press. I have two LNL's and yes the case feeder does suck.

Don't know you well enough, but the Hornady Case is a PITA to get working right. It takes about 6 weeks for the free bullets to come in and I think I had to pay shipping.

Yep, I was just looking at that.. You have to pay about the cost of 100 of the bullets for shipping.. $15 shipping I think it was. Probably go with the 45 cal bullets since more lead will end up in my lead trap..

    Hi...
I load on two different LnLs and use a case feeder on one but add bullets by hand. I don't use powder coated bullets...the powder through expander has never been a problem when loading cast lead bullets or jacketed bullets.
I do seat and crimp .45ACP plated bullets separately.
Cast lead in .357Mag are seated and crimped in one step with an RCBS seating and crimping die.

I tried the powder through funnels that came with the bullet feeder assembly. I never tried PC, but I could never get the lead/lubed bullets to feed through the feed dies because of lube and size (tried all the tips and tricks too).

I could never really get the powder thru expanders to work right and adjusted. Especially when I wanted to swap calibers and set ups. Too much work. Plus I felt it the expander funnels use was too much strain on the auto powder drop mechanism and press.

Took the whole unit off and it’s in storage.
