A buddy of mine has a line on somewhere between 1000-2000+ of linotype and linotype enrichment alloy.
I'm on pins and needles waiting for this deal to happen.

Good Luck! Lead scores are kind of like fishing, every nibble does not turn into a catch. Hope this one does for you. Lino seems to be the score that gets away from me more than any other.
Hi, how much per lb?

Good score if the price is right.

We have pictures and samples. I got a full pig already.
I'm only getting a slice so won't be selling any.
The price is driving 450 miles, one way, to pick it up.

This score highlights why buying soft lead when it is available is a good idea. As harder alloy sources such as printers lead or COWW's become less available the use of plain lead to mix with and extend the harder to come by rich alloys becomes an increasingly good strategy.
At one time I thought I only needed enough plain lead for some soft hollow points and muzzle loaders. Now I see a hundred pounds of soft lead as a hundred pounds I can cast and use by adding some premium alloy to it.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.
Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

Any lead is good lead. When smelt down large lots I mark ingots by B/H. This way I can use as is or mix to what I plan to cast.
I need to hit the scrap yard and see what kind of soft lead scrap they have sitting around!

Sounds like a very good thing!
I was very interested a while back in a large quantity of scrap lead that a "friend of a friend" supposedly wanted to sell. The story I got was that this guy (who I never met) had a big pile that he'd had forever, that he needed to have gone. My friend told me several times about it, and I kept telling him to get me a price and more info.
Finally he got back to me, saying it was old wheel weights and lead pipe, the guy wanted $1.50/lb, and when did I want to come get it? He seemed put out when I told him the price was ridiculous. Needless to say, it never went any further than that.
The last time that I drove any distance for a lead score we turned it into a mini vacation. Me and a buddy, another CB member, drove about 400 miles for a wheel weight score. We took our Wives and spent the night. Went out to eat at a nice restaurant, had a few beers at a brewery that we had not been to, met another CB member and had a nice weekend.
If the stash is anywhere near Amarillo, let me know and we might meet to an impromptu shoot
