Any yall tried working with the old #41027 hollow base and wondered just why in the world somebody ever designed such a difficult casting thing?

More than once I've been tempted to turn the nose into a gas check base, reduce the depth of the lube grooves or use a plug that would make a SWC instead of a HB.
Perhaps with those big lube grooves and a round nose plug it could make a .41 bore muzzleloader boolit.
But then I'd have to get a new muzzleloader.
