Was cleaning out in the garage and came across a pile of lead and recall now what the story is. Many years ago worked at a place that had a industrial x-ray machine. They replaced the x-ray source (we call it a tube) and the repair guy took it apart and gave me the lead. It was curved and I made it flat. Its really really hard, about 1/4" thick and I cant bend it by hand. Stuck a corner of it in the melting pot running tonight running about 600-650 and it melted fast. Found a picture of unit online of the actual unit, see below. Company that made it wont talk to me about it.
Anyone have any idea what alloy or hardness this might be running? Was thinking about getting rid of it but is 29-30 pounds of good hardening alloy.
Thank you.
