    Martini cadet Boys rifle.

This is my mock up of a rifle with a 16 1/2” barrelled cadet.
It balances on about the trigger.
    Overall length is 780mm.
Very short and handy like a wand.
Barrell could be thinner and longer
Still a lot heavier than a 4lb “boys rifle”.
Looking for that ‘olde antique and non threatening looking style rifle.
    What do you all think?
    Attachment 237304

I’d like to put a quick detach scope mount of some description into barrell like 22lr used to have or similar so the mounts wouln’t Stand out.
The stock is very dark and the action is time pitted slightly and came out nice when rust converted.
I’d probably pit the outside of the barrell to blend in.

Sort of a sleeper gun no one would look twice at really.

I did mine with an octagon barrel in 32 S&W. A pistol scope mounted on the barrel will work and still let you get into the action for loading.

Your carbine looks great, bet it will shoot better than alot of modern sporters.
John, is that a personal 32 or did you do it for a customer?

Very nice ! Love the idea of a short, handy single shot garden gun.

Redfield before they went bust, made a junior base and ring set for the T/C rifles. Ring heights were small, medium and high. The problem is cannot use a low or small ring set even if the base is located right up near the front of the receiver ring because with the scope down that low it doesn't leave for finger loading short stubby cartridges such as 25-20,32-20, 38 Special and similar cartridges. So your only alternative would be to install one of the Lyman Junior outside adjustment style scopes.Frank

Well I should had something like this 35 years ago.
As a mock up I can handle and play with it to see how I would like to do it.

I have a short handy dandy 22lr I’ve used for many years. It makes the minimum length etc for our states regulations.
It is easy to "poke out a winda" when "spotlighting" doesn’t get in the way and carries well and easy to toss back in the Ute. Unloaded of course.

This is just an extension of that theme with a big more oomph.
It would be more a fun gun now for me but I’m sure given the opportunity it could could spell the demise of some bigger menaces.
    Thinking 310cadet n a 30 cal barrel 10:1 twist as I geared up with 30 cal moulds.

Could be a noisey cricket around the house for a garden gun thou.

Would need a long barrell a light charge and a small case for that work.
Then I don’t know how loud it would be as I have never heard one.

Get a long barrell and chop it back if it does’t work or make one of each.
    Ha

    Thnx for that.
A long eye relief single tube 1" scope with a turret for long range work past 75 yards would be the bees knees.
My good cadet with a parkerhale #7 gets me to 135yrds with very light plinker loads. 21 moa drop I think.
Working on more regular loads now.

This one I'm doing for me. Been a slow build, just got it back from being blued. I put the stock on and found the cheek is a bit too high for sights so will need to cut it down some.

Love to see your bunny gun lettuce protector Mr Taylor and how it shoots.

Wonder if I could cut though the Botton of the breach and make it a take down martini with a screw in lever.
I suppose you would have modify the lock work so the threads on the barrell could be squeezed tight.

    Maybe not.
