Once in a while even a blind pig finds an acorn (or 2)

    Scored at CA auction today.

Ruger No 1 22-250 w/Unertl. Scope is worth more than package cost.

Really handsome UK made Mauser sporter in 308. The rifle is branded FOREMOST with UK proofs but all FOREMOSTs on the net look like Parker Hales with blond wood, tip/caps and skip line checkering. Suspect this is a restock when you look at the quality of wood and checkering. Fiddleback end to end.

You have some loading and shooting to do, the Mauser is beautiful.

Nice score! Love that wood on the Mauser and NO1s are always pretty great! My 22-250 wears a Unertl 2 1/4 15x as well, tremendous glass.

Sure is some lovely grain in those stocks. Forgive the drool.

Yeah I'm gonna have to find some boring red pad with good wood and swap on onto the 22-250, as I did on the 450-400. Swapping wood and reselling the boring one is far cheaper than a custom stock.

Now that I've mastered "English Red" (like the 375 H&H) then can all look like they came from across the pond.

Underway at this moment is black pad 1B with 3X wood (a rarity) getting changed from bilge Ruger brown to English Red. The bbled action is off at JES to end its boring life as a 30-06 and become a cast boolit 35 Whelen.

Do tell more about “English red” , I have a pallet wood NO1 in 7.62x39 that needs help in that area. A thread in gunsmithing maybe , to stay topical..
