I have never reloaded for the 9mm with the 9mm 147gr fn cast bullets. I was wondering if anybody had any good starting loads for the 9 mm 147 grain flat nose cast bullets.
Thanks

I'm using the Saeco 928 (147 gr) with 3.5 grains of Promo. That isn't a starting load but a working load. I've used 3 grains also & it works the slide on my CZ75 just fine.
For Accurate's 35-147 BG, I like 3.5 grains of Unique. Data from the newer Lyman's Cast Bullet Manual...........different style of 147 grain bullet then they show.

Not quite the same bullet, but with 149 grain round nose my Walther P1 works quite well with 2.8 grains of Titegroup, 3.2 grains of HP-38 or W231, and 3.3 grains of CFE pistol. All these run about 900 fps.

Accurate 36-142H sized .357" accurate and reliably cycles FN GP Competition and SIG P210 with 3.1 grains of Bullseye,
also accurate in S&W 940 revolver.

Old post I know, does anyone have anything new to add. Was wanting to try a 147-150gr bullet in a 9mm Ar15. Have Bullseye, Unique and some WW231 to try
So much depends on the exact boolit you will use and how deeply you need to seat it to get it to feed properly that it is hard to give a good recommendation.
Thinking of the Lee 140gr SWC for one of the bullets and I also have a lyman that is a 150gr rn
Personally, I have never been able to get the Lee 140 SWC or the 105 SWC to work in my 9mm handguns. Others get them to work fine so maybe someone will chime in here with some answers.
As far as the round nose, you should be able to get that one going. Begin your testing with the start loads of whatever powder you choose to use and go from there.
When you size your boolits, you will see the rub marks from the sizing die on the side of the boolit. You usually want the top of the rub marks even with the case mouth. Test that depth and see if it feeds from the magazine and plunks in the barrel.
A chronograph is your friend in this. Work your way up to the velocity you want while checking function and accuracy along the way.
Stay with slower powder like Unique. I found 231 too hot at 3.5 gr.
5.2 gr. Blue Dot or 4.6 grains 3n37 for ~900 fps.
Unique has a pleasing recoil impulse in my CZ 75B. Good accuracy too.
I like 3.8-4.0 Power Pistol with my 147's.

Max 4.0 grains N340 works for me with Mihec 357-165 RF HP. PC, Sized .356 for a Tanfoglio Limited Custom. My penta HP weighs 162 grns.
My BHN in only 8-10, PC makes this work.
I use Bullseye with a roundnose 150 grain .38 Special bullet. I get better accuracy with this bullet that anything else I've tried and I've tried many. However, you're often on your own as to loading data with these heavy bullets in the 9mm. Seating depth makes a lot of difference from a safety perspective.
I have had good luck with the Lyman 147 gr 356637 bullet/ I found they worked best when sized .357 in all my 9MM guns. I used 2,7 - 3,3 gr of 231 with decent results. I still prefer the Lyman 356402 bullet weighing 125gr sized .357. I didn't find any advantage to using the heavier bullet.

Its been months since I bought the book, "How to scam people online". It still has not arrived yet!
"If the human population held hands around the equator, a significant portion of them would drown"
Out of necessity I bought some VV n350 powder at the LGS. With 4.2gr and the MP 147 HP mold seated to 1.10 I am getting 1,000 fps and excellent accuracy.
