    Antique Gunpowder Wall-Mounted Dispenser

    Can anyone on this forum shed some light on the antique gunpowder dispenser in the image I have attached? A sincere thanks in advance for any information shared

    Never seen anything like it, but I wonder if it could have been from black powder days?

    Spitballin' here. Metering valve looks like those on old powder flasks, but non-adjustable. Were it adjustable, this could make a nice measure for range use. The lever operates two valves. At rest, the lower one is closed and the upper one is open, so that powder fills the spout. Pressing the checkered finger piece closes the upper one and opens the lower one, allowing a single charge to drop. That makes me think this may be a dispensing tool for some manufacturing process.

    I agree with Nueces
    I suspect this was something from 1850s and 1860s that was intended for ammunition manufacturers. My guess would be production of musket paper cartridges.
