Considering a PC Carbine here.

I have shot a couple and love the concept, not so much the 9MM. I held out for Shot Show, praying to see them offer a .40, but figuring that we would at very least see a .45 option. Neither occurred.

I have a need and might just have to settle, for now.

SO, having said that, I would want a heavy bullet with as wide a meplat, as will function in the gun. A GC is a "like" not a requirement. Also, I know its a blow back action, so loading hotter, isn't much of a option. (Sure, I can improve a little bit)

Lee's mold selection dosen't reveal anything over 125g. I was envisioning a LBT profiled 147/150G. I do have Lee's lil 358-125RF mold and that profile is satisfactory, but the bullet is lighter than I prefer.

Any ideas? Anyone paved this road ahead of me?

Dont have a 9, but lots of guys run the lee 158 rf for a 9mm heavy. Otherwise, any of the 140-150 grain tc's ment for 9mm subsonic should work well, but probably not subsonic. In my 45acp carbine I see 20-25% velocity increase, depending on powder, over the same load in a 1911.

Here's my Lee (limited run) C359-160-RF PC'd with HF red...shoots well in M&P, G19 & G34 (all aftermarket threaded barrels) behind 3.8g Unique or 2.8g 700X or 3.2g Bullseye. Haven't shot it in my PCCs (AR9 & Keltec Sub2000) yet, but have experimented in 38super & 357sig with good results.

Accurate has several heavy designs optimized for the 9mm which maintain correct overall cartridge length and reduce seating depth to avoid pressure spikes, as can happen when you deep-seat .38 Special bullets:

There are other pcc options, if you are an AR15 guy I would suggest looking into DI (gas operated) AR15 uppers. They have less recoil then a blowback pcc due to less bolt weight. Also going the DI route gives you a choice of calibers from 9mm (only if you reload or don't mind cleaning the bolt/carrier because 9mm factory ammo burns very dirty) 40 S&W, 10mm, 45acp, 45 Super, 45 Rowland all the way up to 50AE. You also have several choices for lowers that use Glock mags or there are various mag blocks for other mags or Grease Gun lowers are still popular.
As for 9mm I do have 2 DI uppers that i run mostly suppressed using my 45 suppressor (works very well and is quite) I have also had Tom from Accurate Molds cut 2 molds designed to be very heavy for the 9mm one is 185gr and the other is 205gr. The 185gr does 800+ fps in my uppers and the 205 I am still working on loads for. I am thinking for the 205gr I may have to change over to the shell shock cases and go +p pressure or NATO spec psi to get them where I want them but will see. Also both feed no issues, I have also run the 185gr in pistols and had no issues feeding as well. They are mold #'s 36-185D and 36-205D.

Its the take down feature that attracts me.

I have a nice AR in 40 and a Marlin Camp Carbine in 45 and a Mexh Tech in 10mm! All are pretty short and fun but its still a rifle case. With the TD its in a back pack. I guess I could make the AR as good spending about same $$ on parts. Hadnt much thought of it. Easier to just get a complete gun.

I ordered a two holer 358-158rc last night. 25$ Is cheap enough to try!!

I loaded up a couple dummies using the 358-125rc last night too. I first powder coated gloss blue and sized to .356. I didnt test them yet as I just cast them Sunday. But I think they are gonna be pretty hard. I used what I had in the pot, laced with two, 1# ingots of dead soft and one 1# ingot of lino. What was in the pot should have been about #2. (Maybe 1.5-2# of it.). I say this, because Rolling them on the towel to dry, after water bath from PC they had a nice “ring” to them.
