    375 H & H with Hodgdon Universal Powder

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. I have searched the Google cosmos for info to no avail.

I am using 13 grains of Unique and Red Dot with PC'd Lyman 375449 at 274 grains with excellent results. I have a lot of Universal.

I know Unique and Universal are kissing cousins on the burn chart and can extrapolate a starting point, but wanted to know if anyone had info.

No reason it cannot be used, but velocity variations are severe shifted front to back in the case. It is worse than most other powders in that respect.

Notwithstanding their positions on a burn chart, Universal is NOT Unique! Proceed with caution. Unique is one of (if not the least) powders that are almost position neutral.

Nothing to add except that I want a .375 H&H one day. One question; if Red Dot is working, why switch? As much griping as I read about "dirty" powders like Unique and Red Dot, surely someone would trade you some more Red Dot for your Universal?

Good luck, hope it all works out.

In BIG cases, always best to use a dacron wad.

I wouldn’t use it w/out a filler. If you give me the specs I can run it in Quickload for you.

I’m having problems linking a pic from my phone. Go here and scroll down to the first pic: http://www.6mmbr.com/Quickload.html

I need the information regarding bullet and case. The box in the upper left has the parameters that I need. Give me as many of them as possible. If you’re using a commercial bullet let me know because there’s a built in list. Otherwise I need the bullet information. Case capacity is must if you want an accurate prediction. This is in grains of water.

It’s a computer program and is dependent on what you enter. If you enter garbage it gives you garbage back. Post everything here as there are other members who can run it as well.

    375 H & H with Hodgdon Universal Powder

Here’s the full chart and somewhat better formatted. My laptop died and the charger is in my work van. I know the bullet mold # is different but I entered the specs your provided.

Quite interesting. I have all 3 powders and a 416 Ruger I just acquired. Loading info on that caliber is kinda scarce.

    Are you using Dacron?
