pulled some boolits and the checks stuck in the case.

Hey there, i recently pulled some boolits from 30-06 brass. i decided I wanted to increase the powder charge from 14 grains to the 16.5 I use as my no recoil cast load. So now I have 4 cases with the 14 grain powder charge with a gas check stuck in them. Do i try and drill the check and use a screw to pull them? Or do I just save em for a trip to the range and shoot the check out? or is there an easier way to remove them? Thanks in advance for your experience and advice.

Tip them edgewise and pull them out with a needle nose pliers.

Use a philips driver to punch then out of the neck into the case, then forceps or NN pliers to remove them.
    Whatever!

I have small allan key that i bent a small tab into.
    - push the gas check into the case.
    -dump the powder
    - position the gascheck and hook the tab in the gas check and pull it out.

All good suggestions. I just use tweezers for the whole process.

On a side note, IF the checks are crimped on well, they won't come off. If they come off when pulling boolits, they may come of when you shoot the boolit.-- just a thought.

Thanks guys, I had a feeling it would be simple. I pulled twenty and 4 came off. I will make sure to only use boolits with A sharp defined base and a tight fit to the check before sizing. Last time I let some that were looser fit.

When you fire the boolit and it is engraved by the rifling it WILL crimp the check onto the base.

I've used the paper clip that I use for checking incipient case head separation. That little hook will pluck them right out once they are turned sideways.
