I purchased my Star, exclusively for nose first sizing. Two reasons...........concentricity and for sizing spitzer shaped bullets. Prior to that, I used a RCBS LAM base first sizer. Occasionally, I found that the bands of some bullets were uneven, after going through the LAM...............figured it would cause flyers, especially with rifle bullets.

Since most bullets are have tapered noses, seems to me that, dropping a bullet in nose first would aid in self alignment for concentric sizing.

That does help Fred! I have a newer Magma produced model. I will have to try it base down with an old spire point Lyman mold/punch combo that I have. Of course Ill have to have a punch made, but im sure that Lathesmith could help me with that. Thank you for the education!

seems like the base first method will be expensive and not as concentric, nose first sizing is one of the main advantage to this luber, don't over think it.
