11.15x60R (.43 Mauser), is it worth it?

I have an opportunity to get a Suhl combination gun in 16 ga. and 11.15x60R. Already have the 16 ga. stuff, but not the .43 Mauser stuff and was wondering what type of "stuff" I would need for it? Opinions ( )and good all around information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I would love to have that gun, in the mean time.. brass and molds are available. Bertrem brass from Grafs. Molds from Lyman, or RCBS. Lee has cheap dies. Problem is the industry think they use a .439 bullet; which they did. But they were paper patched. So, your neck sizer and expanders are not the right size. All 11mm I have owned can use a bullet of around .446 to .450. This is big for a sizer of .439. Lee dies ( no flaring or belling) with a Lyman 439186 will get you started. Your bullets may shave on seating, and your brass will be over worked, plan to anneal. I think some guys have made brass from 45-70, I never have. good luck

I use the Lyman 446110 mold cast with 50/50 WW/Pb sized to .446. 45-70 brass is too short, use .45-90. It will need the rim lathe turned for the relief cut. Of course had I known that brass can be bought, I would have considered it. My load is 20 gr. 5744 with Dacron stretched out like an accordion.

I made a few pieces of brass from 7mm Magnum brass. Gave that up as rim is undersized. Then made a bunch from 45-90 brass. A bit of work, but it fits and functions as it should when annealed.

Sounds like an awesome gun!!! I would love it. Anyway, I just picked up two 1871 Mausers and have been playing with loads. I have some resized brass from 45-90 that is working great and have been playing with different boolits. I am not using a die, just using a universal decapper and handloading and setting the boolit (using BP). Although an obsolete caliber, it is easy to load for.

may not need to trim base, '71 have a flat bolt face, as do most break action doubles. the 71/84 has the mauser A base which may require base trimming.

... and that 16ga was almost certainly 16x2.5" and I use brass shotshells in mine.
