Sad. I visited often but rarely posted. Good folks there and a mountain of information.

I made several good friends there. Buffalo Gun and I have had a burger at Ole's here in our little town, Creeker or Lah (one and the same) became acquainted and he has spent a couple of days at our house. He and his lovely wife stopped by last fall and he left a CZ75 and a bunch of reloads for me to shoot up. Lynn should come back from West Virginia this spring, spend some time and pick his pistol up. Capt Tom and I met there and see each other about every fall, those South Carolina boys know how to put on a feed!
Cal-Mag and I met a couple of times but I haven't heard from in a long time.
And it all happened because of Handloads.com.
Those are just the ones I met in person, several others have become good friends.

Good way to check on websites is to copy the web address & place it in the box at the link below & click on "Or, Just ME" to find out.
    https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
The website does a check & lets you know if it you or the website you are checking has issues to look in to...

Here is the results right now:

    Is www.handloads.com down?

It's not just you! www.handloads.com looks down from here.
So, it seems Handloads.com is still down.

I'm glad I downloaded the loads I was interested in, they should be back up in a few days, probably changed DNS or something. Their registrar is up to date and expires in 2020.

    Thanks Rich.

Rex, our temps have been quite mild this winter. I already have onions, potatoes and snowpeas planted. But, old Mother Nature has a habit of letting our days warm up a bit and then she throws us a curveball and drops the low temps to or below freezing.
You folks see some bitterly cold temps.

Folks, I've met Mike (Buffalogun), he is a great guy and you are missing a real bet if you don't ask about the buffalo and rifle in his avatar.

    Thanks Rex and Beerd,

As for that Buffalo.....back in 2005 an opportunity to hunt buffalo just sort of fell into my lap. I had emailed Custer State Park several questions about their hunts during the course of a year. After their 2005 hunt drawing was complete they had one non-trophy tag left and inquired if I wanted it.

For as long as I can remember I've thought a buffalo hunt would be a good thing to do and so I jumped at the opportunity. This hunt was on the grasslands of Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. While not as authentic as a buffalo hunt taken back in the 1870's, it was however a fine time.
On the way to Custer I stopped off in Paxton, NE and chatted with Rex for a little while over a burger at Ole's Big Game Restaurant.
The morning of the hunt the temperature was 24 degrees with a soft breeze and clear skies. The herd manager was my guide and we found four bulls in a group grazing on a hillside. We tried two times to stalk the animals but they wouldn't have any part of it. Chad(guide) suggested we get ahead of them and set up for an ambush which is what we did.
The bulls were travelling up a long draw and would pass by us at a range of around 65 yds. or so. We were down in a dry creek bed waiting. Time seemed to drag on until they appeared. After a few minutes of waiting for the right shot my bull stepped out ahead of the others and stopped, giving me the opportunity I needed. Chad told me to aim for the horn and move the sights back about six inches and pull the trigger.
At the shot the bull was rolled onto his right side. He kicked his back legs a few times and it was over. He weighed approximately 1,000 lbs.
The rifle is an 1875 Sharps Sporting with a 30" barrel purchased from C. Sharps Arm in Big Timber MT. The chambering is 45-2 1/10. The bullet is a 500 gr. cast bullet that I cast from my C457-500F LEE mold. I used an alloy made of 1 part tin to 20 parts lead. Velocity of the bullet was approximately 1,600 fps.
The bullet went into the bulls neck putting a hole through his left ear flap. The bullet penetrated completely through the muscle and vertebrae and was found lying just under the hide on the off side. The taxidermist saved the bullet for me. I hope I loaded the pics correctly.
