    Cz 527 fs .223

Since the FS was discontinued at the end of 2018, I had to get one.

I like that little deer/ pig/ varmint rifle. Especially the hogback stock. Nice!

Nice. I pick up a 223 Carbine on Friday.

    Yup,the FS models are pretty.

I almost got one but wanted the longer barrel so got the "regular" 527 in 223. It has the hump stock, slow twist..... Had a scope on it for about 10 years, then took it off. Mine loves cast and is a great shooting rig.Am sure you're going to get lots of enjoyment out of your 527!

Am debating with myself whether to take the scope off because any scope, even a small one like the Weaver V3, changes the lines of the rifle. I may try a red dot with low mount such as a Sig Romeo 5 or a Holosun 503, or any of the model that does not have a big battery knob on the side. Barrel length is 20.5" with a 1 in 9" rate of twist.

I like red dot scopes for under 100 yards. For distance shooting i like traditional. Then when the gun gun has iron sights. I like the see through scope rings. That way i use the irons for up close. I have a marlin 60 that is sighted in for 200 yard competition shooting. Never did the comp. Weather stopped it every time the gun club planed them. But any way i use the irons for plinking. Added a bipod since the pic was taken. Click image for larger version.

I'm going with an Aimpoint Micro on my Carbine.

That is definitely a nice, clean look, but it would not be as clean on the 527 FS because of the euro 16mm dovetail. It does not appear that anyone makes a 16mm dovetail low mount for a T1 type red dot. So what I did was to purchase a slide-on picatinny base from DIP, Inc. It is a neat set up, but it does add some height to the set up.

EAW makes a QD version, so it does have the lever (They make it with a knurled thumb nut too), but that makes it nice to switch to sights at any time. It does have to be ordered from Europe, but I have not had trouble doing that in the past.

Yep, the 16.5mm version that EAW makes will work. Pricey but a clean set up. Thanks.

Pricey, but (for me) no need to buy the base from DIP, then no rings to buy (if mounting a conventional scope). Also, it only adds about 3/8" of height to the system, which is pretty much as low as you can get with a Micro.

It is too late on the DIP base. Below are two photos of the current set up. I will mount a red dot on it soon and see if I like the look better. This is 50-200 yard range rifle for me. That said, the EAW mount is very tempting and I may succumb to it.

Just my opinion, but that scope looks better on that rifle than any RD sight will. Plus it offers long range precision aiming.

I do agree that the RDS isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but mine is a carbine, and will only be used out to 150 (and mostly 50 or less). The micro does weigh a lot less, and when it is mounted on the front bridge you really have a quick shooting setup.

Understanding it was now or never I acquired a CZ 527 223 FS about a week ago. Plan to mount a Leupold 2-7x VX1 on it. Going to use Warne quick detach mounts. Figure it will be flat shooting out to 200 yards which is fine. 1 in 9 twist leaves plenty of options open.

This feels like a great rifle.

Tejano, thanks, we agree on nice rifles apparently getting them at close to the last moment. The detach rings is to make it easy to move a scope from one 527 to another making them more versitle. Let me know how yours shoots. It will be a month or so before I get to try mine.

I took the scope off my CZ 527 FS also-- just like the clean lines without it. I modified a Skinner peep sight to mount it with a cut down scope mount-- works great. Click image for larger version.

That looks nice. The NECG is a nice one too.
