1894 Winchester 32-40 Value Opinion

I acquired an 1894 Winchester 32-40 in an estate.
Shes a very NICE Lil rifle, except the TANG had broke, and BUBBA BRAZED it.
She shoots Great! Just not needed in my Collection.
Can someone help me with a VALUE to put on it to sell.

Sans a proper repair, it's only worth what someone would pay for a shooter, as there is no collector value any more.

You would be well advised to search online guns-only auctions for another such "repaired" Model 1894, to find out how much one in comparable condition has SOLD for RECENTLY.

Remember, "opening bids" "buy it now" (BIN), "reserve", and unsold gun dollar amounts are not a value - they are simply what some seller would like to get for their item.

Sadly now it's worth a lot more parted out than most anyone would pay for it, in my opinion.

I'll bet it got rolled on a horse and broken in days past. A decent gunsmith could strip the receiver and brazing and do a proper tig job on it. But yea, you'd be lucky to get 3-400 bucks for it in the condition its in. So is it a 32-20 or a 32-40? Lots of pistol cartridge silhouette shooters would like a classic shooter if the barrel is in decent shape.

32-40! Yea, i thought the tig welding would be the way to go.

Since you already know that it's a shooter, remove the wood,smooth out the brazing with epoxy, then paint that sucker and shoot it a lot. You won't hurt a thing and it will go unnoticed. The paint will even preserve the patina underneath.

about $300. about $1500 if it was not messed up. it does have a 2/3 mag. with octagon barrel which is a desirable combination.

It is 32-40. Sorry, my title said 32-40, then i wrote 32-20 in the description.

Rifling is GOOD. But is dark.
Ive shot cast thru it just fine.
I got lucky and got some bullets with it.
Since Ive seen the prices on 32-40
I got lucky.
18911 is the serial #
I believe made in 1895

Too bad you didn't have room to just keep it. Especially if it's a good shooter. Guns like that may not look so nice, but scream stories of some kind usually. Open the action and see if it talks to you.
