    Broke in my henry saturday

Was out calling coyotes Saturday, not having any luck. Gave up and was heading back to the truck when 20-25 pigs run in front of me. Had my henry 357 loaded with 180 gr rnfp boots. I got the mould from a group but here. The pigs were running and I managed to get 3 with 5 shots. Finished one with the last round in the rifle and used my 45 LC for insurance shots on the other two. Fast and furious shooting. Carried the Henry during deer season but didn't get a shot. Its broke in now.

Congratulations siamese4570. Boy! You did it up right. Hog hunting is on my bucket list. I'm happy to say we don't appear to have them in my part of the country so far. I'd like to be able to hunt them but not at the expense of the damage they do to the land, crops and other game they compete with.

I have both the 357 and 45Colt carbines from Henry, what a hoot to shoot. Sounds like you had a great day.

I saw a guy at the range with a henery. He was swinging it around cocking it like the cowboys on horses in the movies. We left. What an idiot.

Love it when those guys bring me bent levers to replace. Easy money!
I do agree though, what an idiot.

Did the bullets pass through the hogs?

Yes. Two of them were pretty young so no problem there. The boar was probably 100 lbs and I'm pretty sure I got pass thru although I didn't gut it.

Did you save the meat or give it to someone that could use it?

Good shootin, hogs take a lot of killin sometimes. I’ve killed a few with 44 and 45-70 leverguns, never used a 357. I need to change that.

A 357 lever gun is fun! Made my best shot ever on a deer with one using some water quenched flat pointed 180 grainers. Bullet penetrated completely lengthwise, breaking major bones on entry and exit. No J word bullet would do that! I'm gonna try to get down to Florida and nail some hogs with my 30 30!
