    Savage Axis bolt replacement

Newbie question. Can a Savage Axis 308 short action be converted to 223 by simply changing the bolt head or do you have to change the whole bolt? And are the bolts interchangeable with only a head space adjustment.

I think on the 110s you can just change the bolt head. You'd obviously need a new barrel and the magazine would need to be replaced. As cheap as they are, you'd be better off buying another Axis in .223.

Thanks. As many Axis rifle they have sold looks like a beater would show up. But of course not when I'm looking or have the funds.
