1909 Argentine Mauser

If you want a 45/70 bolt gun, there's a Siamese Mauser for sale that someone has started to sporterize over on GunBroker. It has an after market barrel already installed, but no caliber is listed.
I think that they're asking too much for it. But it's been there for a while. Maybe you can make them an offer.

You say 'converted to 30-06'...was it rebarreled or just rechambered and, therefore, actually a '.31-06'? Some of the rechamber jobs can be really decent shooters. An acquaintance has one with a military barrel that was 'sporterized' in the '50s or '60s...rechamber, plain-Jane civilian wood and D&T for some cheap scope bases. HXP M2 Ball, at best, would print about 4" groups @ 100 yds. I loaded some '.31-06' for him; opening up case necks using a 7.62x54 sizing die and loading bullets pulled from some junk 7.62x54. Shazam...2" groups first try out of the box. Downside: now he's changed his mind about selling it (to me!) and is looking for a source for more milsurp pull-downs.

It was just rechambered. I have been using it with cast boolits and it shoots very accurately with them. I will probably leave it as is and just use it occasionally.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I suspect it is going to stay as in. I enjoy shooting it like it is now. Besides, I already have 3 45-70s and a 45-110. I need this one to relax with.
