    Marlin 39 question

    I am kicking around the idea of adding a Marlin 39 to my safe. I like the straight stock of the Mountie but I also like the idea of a longer barrel.

    Did Marlin ever make a straight stock with a 24" barrel?

    Thanks for your time,

    According to this thread, the 1st year 1953 Mountie with a K prefix had a 24" barrel and a straight stock.--->>> https://www.marlinowners.com/forum/m...stock-39a.html

    Can't go wrong with a 39. One of my favorite guns to shoot.

    Bought an old Model 39 years ago but didn’t care for how big and chunky the wood was so I had Marlin rebarrel it with one of their octagon 1897 bbls. I then shortened the forend and pared down the wood to give it the lines of a ‘97. Looks a lot better now. I agree you can’t go wrong with an old Marlin. I’d look long and hard before I bought a new one though.

    You really can't go wrong with an old Marlin 39.

    I've got a tired old girl that has a 24" barrel and straight stock. Old enough that it's Ballard rifled. Don't know any more than that.
