Hopefully your Ruger does not have a gain twist as my AR did. Cast were NG in it.
And I live in a state that requires expanding bullets to hunt deer.

Hmm, according to the Berger bullet stability calculator, the 405 grain Lee 45-70 bullet should stabilize in my 1:24 CVA barrel. Of course it will need to be sized, but it's plain based...this should be interesting. Shows stability even down to subsonic velocities too.

Will have to pick up that mold.

I don't see any state, commonwealth or province doubting a LEAD projectile was anything but expandable.

I have a Ruger ranch and I shoot a Lee 255fn over 11.5 grn of unique is a real nice shooter with no recoil, however it won’t cycle my PSA 18” 450 AR

There are endless fun light loads to try for sure! Part of the appeal of this round for cast shooters.

9grn of red dot with the 255 Lee is nice,
16 gr of unique under the Lee 300grn was accurate but way low to the sights
