After extensive testing and counting out 7 dots of red and lighting the dots, I can say without a doubt they burn just like gunpowder.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
My amendment can beat up your amendment.
Same with blue and green. I was under the impression it was just colored powder particles. I like the fact that I can ID the powder at a glance even though I have only one powder out at a time. I love me some blue dot.

Love my Red Dot, but I do have limited quantity's of both blue and green. Just toooo handy.
More likely clear celluloid dyed red...so they burn............however ,under a convention all nitro explosives have microdots included ,so the residue can be ID d by the FBI,after the nitro burns or whatever. These dots are made of dozens of layers of different coloured material, which is a code ,to ID manufacturer and batch lot ,and so who the end user was.
No need to test them. A typical skeet field would be buried in red dots if they did"t burn.

As I recall, this question was answered in a published article quite a few years ago. The author picked out enough of the red dots to load several rounds and tested them with a well known load. The difference with powder straight from the can was inconsequential.
I have no blue, but some red and lots of green. I am a farmer, I like green things.
There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide. Ayn Rand
My vintage can of Hi Skor 700X has light yellow/ white dots in it...dale
Those red dots can also lose their color over time. I was gifted a partial cardboard drum of red dot, probably from the 60's or early 70's, but there werent any red dots in it. The original owner was a careful loader, so I assumed the powder was red dot. I emailed Alliant and asked if the red coloring could fade over time and they said yes. I loaded a cylinder full of 38 wadcutters with that powder and a cylinder full with fresh red dot and shot them all over the chronograph. Couldn't tell the difference.
I think this thread must be one of the early signs of cabin fever

So how many dots per pound on average?

I just love to connect my red, blue, and green dots with a round silver dot...
Any technology not understood, can seem like Magic!!!
I will love the Lord with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind.
Imagine my surprise the first can of Vectan A1 I opened.
I thought I may have wasted my money as there was no way those big square flakes would measure well. But I was wrong. A1 is quickly becoming a favorite in .45 ACP.
