    What is this critter?

This was in a bunch of reloading stuff given to me to get rid of. The circular steel part is 1.25 in, its spring loaded, the inside part has 6 sides with a little point/cutter at the corners. The only id is Forster Products Lanark,ILL. Cuts a perfectly round 1.25 in hole in a cci primer cardboard sleeve. Looks kindaAttachment 235257Attachment 235258Attachment 235259 small for a patch cutter? Needs some cleaning.

Forster is still in business and they're really good folks to do business with. Shortly after Forster acquired the old Bonanza line of products, I was trying to find a part for a discontinued Bonanza press and Customer Service even got their shop manager into the act, going through all the QC reject and warranty return junk they'd received along with the finished inventory. Drop 'em an email and see what they can come up with. https://www.forsterproducts.com

Looks like it may be a patch cutter
Perhaps my learning skills have diminished in my senior years.. 50 years ago I could read something once and then "have it"... Now I read it about three times, do it a couple of times and then... "have it" only about half the time.

At a guess a patch cutter for a muzzle loading slug gun utilizing a false muzzle and this cuts a patch that is a perfect fit for that false muzzle.

Yes, it IS a Forster patch cutter. However, unless those little knife edges are razor sharp, it will tear rather than cut the fabric. (Don't ask me how I know!)

Never seen one of them before, I suppose the flood of cheap and abundant patches phased these out.
