I used an old pillow case wound up real tight and taped but I got a little careless one day and blew a hole (burned really) in it. I decided it was time for another one and had an old burlap bag which I proceeded to roll up tight like the other one and tape it tight. I have been using that bag as rest for over 24 years now. It is a little soiled and has a powder burn or two (not bad-just scorched) but otherwise it is still going strong. Serves my needs anyway as I am not a ballistic nerd. james

The real small bench cushion gets hard from moisture if you leave it at the range

At 6'2" all the benches at the range are too low for me. I made a front rest from a jack and put a Caldwell bag on that. I can crank it up so I am almost sitting straight when I shoot. Rear bag is on a block of wood and moves around - have to fix that.

I am basically saying I looked at that Caldwell bag and it is way too low for me.

n Being the cheap ole phart that I am,I always used the zippered bank deposit bags.Filled with whatever sand was at hand and when done shooting,I just opened the zipper and dumped the sand.Worked great, and the bags were free for the asking from the bank.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

I now use aquarium rock when I can get it cheap to fill my empty shot bags, rice works well but when your garage floor floods then it doesn't work so well anymore!! I have been interested in the empty Caldwell bags for awhile maybe this summer I will try a set.

Got mine on ebay too. But 13.00 that's a steal. I paid 31.00 shipped.
