Why no 115 gr molds in 9mm

115 gr bullets are pretty standard fair for factory ammo. So why are 115 gr mold so rare? Would be nice to duplicate factory 115 gr loads.

Both RCBS and Saeco make 115gr 9mm moulds.

Lee 120gr TC seems close enough to 115gr to me.
and I do like the Lee 120gr.

On Group Buy Discussions they are adding names to the list for an MP 115 gr. RN. Only 20 names are required & the last time I checked they had 8 (or 9).

BTW: It's a 8 cavity! Available in BB or FB. NLG (FB only) or lube groove. It doesn't get any better than this.

Why? Because most guns shoot better w/ heavier bullets. Competition doesn’t exactly correlate to cast bullets but the majority shoot bullets in the 125 grain range. Have a MP mold that casts a little under 100 grains. It never gets used.

Lee 120 TC AND lYMAN 402 about equal

My 6 cav. Lee throws 123 gr. boolits with range lead. Decent perfomer for IDPA action pistol shooting. Never really tried to see how accurate ( target--bullseye) it is. I too am thinking about a heavier bullet but Lee lists all of their product line for 38/357. I like the TC as it design works great in my 92FS and 38 spec. [I] wonder if anyone has tried a TC boolit around 130 to 135 gr.?? afish4570

    I have the NOE 358-128-SWC
I bought it specifically for one 9mm gun that didn't like the Lee 125gr RF
The NOE drops a 129gr and it looks much more like a TC than it does a SWC...it does have a SWC edge, but it's so small you almost don't see it.

I had the RCBS "cone nose"-type mould described above when I first began shooting 9mm about thirty years ago. It made an accurate bullet, but I eventually sold that mould, preferring a heavier bullet. I've found many 9mm bullets under about 135 grs. will shoot low, some very low.

ive shot a pile of the rcbs 115 round nose and its allways been one of the most accurate bullets in my 9s. Only downside to it is its only available like all rcbs molds in 2 cavity. I bought 2 of them and run them both at the same time and that speeds up the bullet pile. I also have a couple custom molds in the 115-120 range and contrary to what some have found I get better accuracy in my 9s with them then I do heavier bullets. Only exception is my 16 inch ar15. It likes the heavy ones a bit more but is still plenty accurate with lighter bullets.

Splitting hairs, the difference between 115 and 120 grain cast bullets. The 115 grain mould I use is a 115 RNFP, with hollow point option, made by NOE.

I have a 1980's NEI 9 mm 4 cav mold that makes a 115 gr SWC with 6-2-92 alloy, I have used it for 9 mm and .38 spl/ .357 mag over the years and still cast good bullets.

OK. I guess that's all I really needed to know.

Most guns shoot 9mm better with heavy cast boolits. I was amazed how well 135gr. shot compared to 115 cast lead. the lighter 9mm cast tend to be so short that they dont feed well in most guns.
