    .358 rifle bullet jackets

Here it goes, again. I'm wanting to Swage .358 rifle bullet, however the first step is making/ finding jackets. I have some .357 jackets but they aren't long enough to make the rifle bullets. Based on my limited research the 40 S&W cases could be a closest donor for 180 grain jackets.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bill

.223 brass can be cut down and used, anneal and draw down. I have a set and have made 200-260 grain, no reason cases can not be cut shorter to make 180

I Have looked for commercial jacket, I have not found any

    You're right, I don't know where I got my math. I already have a .357 reducer for .223 brass .

My 9mm brass drawn to .358 make a 200 to 220 round nose flat point. If you had a 4s die I would think you could get a 180 grain soft point.

I have never tried 9mm, you do it in 1 draw that would be a lot easier than cutting 223

Here's some 178 grainers made from 9mm, formed in an altered .223 Remington full length size die. the pic with .380 brass are 152 formed in the same .223 die.
Accidently uploaded the lighter bullets and can't get it to go away.
    Those 260s are beauties.

    Adam, 2 things:
    1. How long is the jacket?
    2. Who's swaging die made that bullet?

I can get the point a little tighter but the risk of getting stuck is close,

1 draw on the 9mm. Anneal, clean and draw. .390 to .355 isn't that hard. I just made a 190 grain 4s soft point. 190 is the sweet spot if your going by looks but you can have a small soft point at 180 grains or a very large soft point at 210 grains with the 9mm case.

For heavy 358 bullets, use M-1 Carbine brass.
    No draw needed

I swage both 357 and 358 bullets. Best brass for the 357 pistol style bullet I have found is 380. For the 358 rifle style bullet I like 9 mm brass. 180 gr to 220 grain is no problem with the 9mm brass. My rifle bullets are designed for use in a lever gun so they have a large enough flat point as to not have to worry about a chain reaction set of in the tube. Although I do wish I could find some long enough regular jackets. I would like to get a die made to simulate the 180gr ssp Hornady bullets that are no longer available.

Thanks, I started to make jackets that way, however I'm going to try using .223's around 1.1" long and reaming them like the ones for the .357 max for the .357 AR.
