Do you think these are as powerful as the modern day primers, or more so.

Nice score there....estate sale? Not sure about "as powerful" but not too long ago I got a couple of K of primers of that vintage at an auction. Since then, I've loaded some old Remington LR and some of those Winchester Staynless LR primers and there was no difference noticeable when shooting them. The Staynless primers did seem to take a bit more effort in seating but again, shot just fine.
I am still using some large rifle magnum primers I bought in the early 70's when a LGS went out of business. They all go bang just like my new ones do.

I have some large pistol primers from the 60's that work fine.
There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote. It is merely the difference between murder and suicide. Ayn Rand
I bought a few thousand primers from an estate sale ~20 years ago... There were old Herters-labeled primers that were made in Japan, military marked primer boxes with curved faces on the cups, and some really old primers from the days of copper cups and corrosive compounds, through the wood-tray stainless primers. I shot a few copper primers as an experiment, then cleaned that gun thoroughly. All went off as expected... I've since used up all those stainless primers, bought and shot more as well. I don't see a difference in Point of Impact when I compare the same load with newer primers.
