No harm at all though, Its a simple switch for me to project them, 5 mins... The caster doesn't start until I get him funds, so I'll adjust and get the lettering right.

Thanks Squidtamer and Omega for catching this!

Original thread had the right image for stackable ingots with raised design in mold yielding design inset into ingot.

But it is great to catch that before sending to the shop, machinist are so darn literal when it comes to blue prints or shop sketches.

I see as of order 21 there are 67 molds ordered. Coming up on 1/3 of the total 250 of the order. Me I'm going to try and spread the word so folks sign up and the order gets filled.

As it gets closer to being filled I may look at adding a couple "extra" molds to my order. I ordered what I know I needed, since I use 4 home made ingot molds now. Given time to set aside some cash I might decide I "need" one or two more

Need is a somewhat flexible word in the context of casting and reloading.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

How many mold orders do you have to get before you order these made? The whole 250?

As soon as enough of the order money comes in to kick off the mold, i will do that. I think at that point im sure the 250 will sell out, or i will store some and cover those costs. With 67 gone in 2 days, i think the remaining will get swept up quickly.

I recall a good number of people were disappointed when the person that was making these as a cast aluminum mold stopped offering them. Those were sand cast molds and then poured to manufacture. I think it limited production rate. Think there was a steady back order for them. Don't recall the price either but it caused me to hold off until it was too late in favor of other purchases.

I'm pretty sure these models will go fairly fast now that Lakehouse2012 has done the considerable legwork to make them available.

    Hi Guys,

Got back home tonight and made improvements to the mold. I've updated pics in post #1 and written a brief description. 1) inset lettering for ease of stacking and 2) added a rib around top perimeter for robustness.

Now I'll send an igs of the new file, to the caster, so he has it on file.

    Night,

    Lakehouse2012

This is why I’m asking. It seems they are being made in China. I was hoping to get confirmation from the Honcho about this.

In the new photos, "Cast Boolits" appears to render properly, but the alloy type abbreviations look backward. That is, they read OK in the mould and should be reversed.

Yes Dragon they are being cast out of China. Like 90% of the aluminum die-cast in the world now, these molds are coming from China. I spent months trying to get pricing below $65/molds out of the USA. Miha with MP wouldn't even take the job out of Europe... If you are not interested because of this I understand, but please don't try and sour the pot for others.
