I've never seen a factory made H&R muzzle loading shotgun.
I've only seen H&R muzzle loading rifles some of which had removable breech plugs and some didn't since H&R redesigned the breech plug after initial production began.
But a company does make 209 ML shotgun chamber adaptors that fit most single shot shotguns including H&R's.--->>> https://www.gunadapters.com/209-muzz...ding-adapters/
They're recommended for use only with shot and not with patched round balls or slugs.
Perhaps that's because some of the powder & shot partially drops down into the part of the chamber area which would otherwise hold the shot shell.
But I'm not sure if there's any other reason why.
The chamber adaptors are made to fit 12, 20, 16 & .410 bore shotguns and cost $29.99 each.
There's a youtube video somewhere on the website and other videos about them on youtube.

Mine uses a removable breech plug. There were at least 2 styles.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is...
The early H&R muzzleloaders had the push-in breechplug and were offered in three models, .45 rifled, .58 rifled and 12ga smoothbore.
The later ones had the screw-in breechplug and were offered in .45 and .50 caliber rifled barrels.
The early ones were Huntsman models and the later models were Huntsman and Sidekick if I'm not mistaken.
Sidekick I think had a shorter breechblock or was that the Huntsman. At least on flavor required it to be registered because they used the SB-1 shotgun receiver and centerfire barrels could be fitted.
I was only thinking about the 1st generation Huntsman models and never saw a ML shotgun version.
I'm not saying that they didn't make any, only that I've never heard of one.
The old, original Huntsman were the ones that had both styles of breech plugs.
Do you have a 12 ga.?

There's a video tab at the top of the page listed above that brings you to a videos page that has a video about the
209 muzzle loading chamber adapter which shows it in use:--->>> https://www.gunadapters.com/videos/
The website also mentions a 15% discount for joining their newsletter.

Here's an example.

I owned one a few years ago.
Thanks for the info. guys.
The one on Gunbroker must be an original since it has the #11 nipple.
I searched and found one other poster who said he had a .45, .58 and 12 ga. Huntsman.
Back in those days when the Huntsman was 1st made, Massachusetts had a black powder deer season that was smooth bore only.
Since H&R was located in MA, I wonder if H&R made an accessory barrel so that folks would able to hunt the MA smoothbore season with them?
I always believed that the TC .56 Renegade Smooth Rifle was also intended for the Massachusetts smoothbore season since New Hampshire was a border state with MA
and Thompson Center was located in NH.
The .56 smoothie became quite popular across the country.

I have one that uses #11 caps. Mine was rough and had some kind of crazy choke device on it so I shortened the barrel and forearm, almost looks like a regular old NEF pardner now apart from the ramrod under the barrel. I'd sure like to find another one (hint hint Mr. Peabody lol), I love the one I have.
Bill, I've looked for quite awhile to find a single barrel well built shotgun. I think this might be it.
