You could try some 5-7 shot groups, maybe even more rounds would give a better picture. I see a typo in your data though you forgot the C in BL-C (2) or lot# 2 however your canister is marked. Have fun and enjoy, even if you are using those danged copper coated things! that's what it's all about.

i chickened out so not to spoil it lol
i also tried 45gns of h4895 which gave just a slightly larger group but more of point of aim whereas the bl-c was 6 oclock hold.
    so i wasnt a fluke .
unfortunately due to the idiots of the EEC most of the best powders are banned now and bl-c is one of them.
next week it will be vhit 135 turn and fingers crossed i should be a good one.
i did try cast boolits in her and it shot really well after a shakey start.
got plenty of good help from the lads on here too.
we have completely different and restictive gun laws in the uk which restrict what we can and cannot do.
anyway the rifle is far more accurate then i will ever be

shooting open sights is a big challenge to me due to astigmatism in both eyes so focusing can be frustrating and difficult and times....but i still enjoy the old rifles.
i do shoot sniders and martini henrys with cast boolits

I'm not familiar with the sights on the Verguerio. If it's a vee rear and barleycorn front that is a great group. That gun will shoot.

I’ve got two of the Portuguese Verguerio Mausers, one still military and the other sporterized. The military version has very good sights, to be military that is. They are easy to see and stand out well, at least for me.

Those are nice sights for a military rifle of that vintage. You do realize we need to see your rifle please. Thanks for the link.

whilst the rifle was out i had a quick look at it and never noticed the crown over BNP stamp before.
basically its been proofed over here in the uk in birmingham after 1954.
mine still as its original 6.5 calibre writing on it as i was told they erased that and inscribed 8mm

    So yours is still 6.5?

That’s cool. You don’t see many left in the original caliber.

Interesting colored wood, I can see a bit of striping in the butt. Looks as if stock has been refinished though? The one pictured on the Wiki link is just fantastic, tiger striped stem to stern!

No he's shooting Sierra 175 .323 bullets. They never removed the 6.5 markings

Take all the wood off, place in a dark lawn&leaf plastic bag. Set it in the hot sun for a few hrs, take them out and wipe the cosmoline off. Repeat as needed. I said hours because I see you are in the UK. In Texas, you can skip the bags and in July it takes about 5 minutes!

My bullet of choice in 8mm is Hornady 150gr. flat base spire point. Its been easy to get it to shoot well , esp. with H4895 and H4350 loadings

Both of mine has the original caliber X’d out and were rebored to 8mm. My sporterized one was rebarreled to 7x57. I love how smooth these actions are. They glide in and out like butter without the wobble most Mausers have. I believe this is due to the split bridge giving the bolt more support.
