The OM was a 500 gr RN 45-70-500 .
The the Cavalry couldn't handle it so they got a reduced load for the carbines a 405 . 45-70-405 .
That was still too much of a good thing so it got wadded down to a 45-65-405 .
In the modern context though yeah it is .
Kind of like Cal 30 model of 1906 vs 30-06' Springfield vs 06' .
Or 30 WCF and 30-30 .
45 Long Colt vs 45 Colts not to be confused with the shorter 45 Schofield or 45 S&W .
Of course I love this little lost gem just because it makes heads explode .
