    smelting pots and ingot moulds

Does anyone know if D Crockett is still doing business? He is still listed as a vendor, but as explained to me that is by subscription. He has not been active on this site since July or so. Was thinking about getting a new smelting pot and a couple of his angle iron ingot moulds. I sent him a PM and a email, but no response. Thanks for any info you all can impart.

While I don't know the exact status, A quick search shows all of D Crockett's S&S threads have been closed/locked, same with all the threads on his VS page ...and he hasn't logged in since 7-19-2018.

So my "guess" is that he isn't in the Biz anymore.

You might check with a local welding shop. Probably the smaller the better. Most of them have some scrap laying around. I built my burner and some of my stuff but I had a welding machine and could weld.

I have one of his pots and several of his molds; good stuff. He'll be missed if he is no longer in the game.

If you can weld, cutting down a propane tank makes a great smelting pot. Even if you can't weld, but can work with your hands and have a few tools making a pot wouldn't be too difficult. This is one I made with a bottom pour, but a simple melting pot with a dipper could be made by bolting things together.
