Exclamation Thompson Center Green Mountain Barrels at TOTW

It looks like Track of the Wolf is again getting in Green Mountain barrels for Thompson Center Hawken rifles in 15/16. Calibers listed are .45, .50 and .54 percussion and .50 flint lock. Check it out for yourselves. Good shooting.

I bought a 36 cal green mtn barrel for my Hawken around thirty years ago...a true tack driver. Sorely tempted to get one in 54...sigh... thanks for the heads up...I think!

There are always Colerain and Rice. I, too, wish the barrels were also in 1 inch.

I was thinking of filling in the extra space with bedding compound. Any comments?

I bought a 13/16" .45 cal 36" GM round ball barrel, breech plug, under rib, thimbles, and sights to build for my .36 Seneca. The Seneca breech plug with 5/8x18 threads I was lucky enough to find on eBay for $25. New never installed. I've got a couple Cherokee barrels, one of which was bent when I got it. I got them for parts. I will use the under lug from one of them for it. I figure with 60-65 grains of 3f and a round ball it will make a light little deer rifle for stalking.

They list a couple at 1".

ETA: Oops! Those are NOT drop-in barrels! They're threaded and crowned, but have no breech plugs or staples, ribs, etc.

Yes the TC Hawken barrels of 1 inch will fit the TC Renegade stocks.

I see no reason why a 15/16ths barrel would not work in a 1 inch stock, however the "windage" and depth will need to be taken up with accuraglass or some such bedding goo being careful to not ger any in the wedge hole nor the lock mortice ... and specially not in the hook breech. Ensure that your barrel placement will allow the hammer to align with the nipple as well.

All in all I would expect that a stock off ebay would be easier to do as all the hardware between the Hawken and Renegade will interchange with the exception of the Hawken patchbox and the butt plates.

The TC system is pretty fool proof and fair to great quality and will provide a lifetime of percussion enjoyment.

Myself, the Hawken stock blistered my cheeck bone, so I carved mine down at the comb height to fit me mug. Now mine has no cheek piece and the height is purrfect for this shooter.

I bought a 32 in, 66 twist, 54 cal yesterday. I thought they quit making them and weren't ever gonna make 'em again.

    Hello Guys,

We just purchased a .50 in 1:28 twist, looks good.
For those wanting a 1", the barrel tennon is bolted on instead of a wedge.
I'm thinking one could contact either Track or Green Mnt. for this part.
