I can't take down my RIA .380 1911 AKA the baby rock.

I need help. I can not get my baby rock taken down. The slide stop i can not get out. I read the directions and watched a video from armscor. I even tried gently tapping it out with a brass drift. I cleaned it up the best i could when i got it. Figured after some break in. It would loosen up. Thanks Al

I dont know about the baby rock but I have full size RIA Tac Ultra 1911 in 10mm. In my gun at least the recoil rod and spring tend to get out of its notch and fall down until its sitting on the slide itself and its hard to take it apart when that happens. It takes little more force to take it off then. I'm not sure if its the same problems as my gun but try to do it upside down and that helps me.

Of course your safety is off right??? because that will prevent slide from coming off at least in full size 1911 it does.

Thanks. Yeah it's a bit different than the 10mm and there 45's. Love those guns too. The notch was kinda hidden. Like they did not machine it out all the way.

A trick I use on 1911 types is to roll the unloaded pistol over to the left gangsta style, push hard on the slide release pin with my trigger finger while racking the slide. Most will pop right apart so I do this inside a cardboard box. Easy.
