    Big 6.5 mold???

    Playing with a Arisaka Type 30. 6.5x50
The bore is well worn, but still has rifling.
So far the Lyman 266469 seems to work the best, but i know it's to small.
My mold cast at 265 to 266 after powder coating.
I don't size it at all.
Gas check is seated by pushing the boolet, check first, up into a 266 NOE sizer, just to seat the check, then pushed down with a wood stick.
    Works well
Is there a bigger 6.5 mold made????
I have a 270 mold, but I think it's to much to size down.

when you say you have a 270 mold, do you mean .277 ?

My Type 38 Jap Custom bore slugs at .2685
I've tried all the molds NOE offers...the 270-469 works best in my gun. The mold drops them .271 and I size it to .270

If you have a mould that casts at .270, then it's no big deal to size it down to .266+.

Alternatively, you can beagle the Lyman 266469 mould to get it to cast up to .003 bigger.

All you need is some self adhesive aluminium tape applied to one side of the mould to make it cast bigger bullets and you can always remove the tape to put the mould back to original spec.

What about the Lee Custom 6.5 "Cruise Missile" that MidSouth carries? Mine drops at .268 and weighs 170gr

    Yes, it's a 270-277di mold.
I'll dig it out and post the number.

    I was thinking about beagle.
That might be my next step.

I have the Lee cruise missile.
I've tried it, and it didn't shoot to well.

I haven’t done it, but I think if you beagle, you’ll have to size afterwards. Have you thought about a second coat of PC?

! also tried the 170g Lee CM and couldn't get it to work well in any of my 6.5's, until I had the mould machined to remove the lower driving band and reduced the weight to 150gn.

If nothing else works for you paper patching the #266469 isn't hard to do well.
