    I have trained a few new shooters and never felt the need for less power/noise than a LR. Paying more than double the price woukd be a deal killer for me.

    Air rifles are another option.

    Around here I was pleasantly surprised to see them selling .22 Shorts at our local Walmart, Academy Sports, Bass Pro and Cabelas too. The prices were pretty goods actually. Several local gun stores had them in stock too. But the prices were not so good.

    Yes, for those of us with dedicated short shooters, Academy keeping shorts is really nice! Cheap they aren’t but I would give them a solid “reasonable”
