I bought some multi focal glasses, 2 pair/2 powers :
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And some clip-on sunglasses for them:

Bought for clear front site view on handguns.
I haven't worn them shooting yet though.

I’ve used a pair of flip up sunglasses with a small hole drilled in one eye and cut down too a small disk to work quite well.
I in fact made the hole larger and use a black sticky dot and a needle to make the hole the size I need for the conditions.
Just flip down when you are going to shoot.
I left the off side as is and the added darkness seems to help me concentrate more on my shooting eye.
Peepsight work but I loose stuff in the dark when I could still see them.
Scopes seem to brighten things up at dawn or dusk.
Maybe it’s my fuzzy calibrated eye balls.

I looked at a redot thing in a shop but it appeared to be more of a comet than a dot to me.
Will they all do that with my eyes the way they are or are some brands better than others?

I'm guessing it looked like a comet because you had glasses on when you looked thru it.
Red Dots are designed to project the dot to appear to be at the target distance and having "readers" on will blur the dot the same as looking at the target.
I suggest you try looking thru it at an object on a far wall...without glasses.
If you saw a comet rather than a dot, without glasses on...never mind

    Had my glasses on.
    They are progressive lenses.
Looked at a wall 15 feet away.
Maybe if I see someone at the range with one I’ll have a look though thiers and see if it’ll work for me.
    Thnx

The cheaper the dot sight................the more of the comet effect. I wear progressives and don't have the comet issue with premium red dot sights, like Trijicon's and Sig Romeo's. Look into a triangle or chevron, instead of the dot.
