    I have tried all the tricks with cast iron. The chain mail is the bees knees. You wonder why ya never had one before.
    I boil water, dump, rinse and scour with hot and I am done. No muss no fuss. AND this thing will out last and clean up better than a truck load of scouring pads.

    I have one of the chainmail pads, it doesn't get much use here. I use about 1/4" of warm water, turn the heat on for a minute or two, then let it sit with the warm water and loosen the burned on bits with a plastic scraper that Lodge sells. Hey! These scrapers are THE BOMB!! They are quite stiff and have a nice burr raised all the way around one side. They don't seem to wear down very fast either.

    Just putting this here, this is an antique chain mail scrubber for cast iron..

    Just tried it out. Easist way to clean cast iron i've seen. Hot water and a quick scrub with no seasoning loss
