Clear powder coating sticking

Just got my clear powder coat from Smoke today. Coated 10 clear and 10 copper and baked. When I went to remove from non stick aluminum foil the copper ones fell right off but the clear ones bases stuck to the foil. Anyone have a similar experience using the clear ? TIA, Derrell

I have not used any but just asking was the foil the correct side up ? I made that mistake before.

Hi RP , yes non stick side was up, I've used this sheet a couple of times. Weird that the copper ones fell right off.

A good reason to use parchment paper instead of aluminum foil. The down side to parchment paper is that it has a limited life...when it turns Brown after several uses/bakings, replace it or it will fall apart.

thats probably the problem.i use smokes clear and replace the foil for every oven load. never have that problem

I use Smoke's powders and always use parchment paper at least twice before replacing with no issues.

Chainsaw, I stopped by Wallyworld on the way home tonight and picked up a silicone baking mat. Will give it a try later tonight,

I took Chainsaw's recommendation and tried the silicone mat, and it stopped boolits from sticking !! Still have a concern with coating puddling at the base when I pull it off the mat. Sizing does take it off, Am I over worrying ??

Assuming you did not over powder the bullets, you should not have any pooling at base (on silicon mat).
I suspect the powder if u did your part.
I hear Smoke’s clear is good to go.

Sizing should not remove powder unless your really swaging.

clear coats better than copper thus it will be more likely to stick. I bake on mesh trays with minimal sticking, a tap of the tray upside down on the table and they all fall out.

If your coating is puddling then you have to much powder adhered to your bullets. Try tapping the bullet to knock off the excess before placing it on the mat. BTW: As far as I am concerned good quality silicon mats are the best way to go and over the last 6 years I have tried them all.
