Please tell me all you can about this civil war musket

Friend of a friend has had this musket in the family for decades and would like to know whatever we can tell him about it. There are no sights now and doesn't appear to have had any in the past and so I am assuming it is a smoothbore percussion, possibly an Enfield Pattern?

Yes,it what was termed a "Potsdam" by the Union buyers........also called a M 1831 transformed musket.......check for Belgian marks......have you heard the statement "all the refuse of the arsenals of Europe poured into the hands of the volunteers 1861-63."
