    Active BPCR matchs in Texas?

I’m looking into shooting a BPCR match and I’m not sure which matches are still active. Does anyone have any knowledge on which ones still shoot according to the BPCR.net information?

Yes it does! Thank you! I didn’t know about the YSCA And it isn’t far away at all. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to go out to one of these soon.

Still kicking just not stirring up much dust. I read sometime ago that the BPCR match at New Braunsville had shutdown?

Exal, I would get on the match directors e-mail list for any place you might want to shoot. What part of Texas do you live in?

I just moved to Austin this month from West Texas but I have a place on oak creek so the fort Chadbourne match might be a good one just because I could spend the night there.

How many people usually show up for the matches? It kind of seems like a dying sport. Also, are there any good resources that I can look at to see what equipment I would need for a match and is it detrimental that I don’t have a spotter?

Chadborne will have eight to twelve shooters depending on weather etc. Gary will place you with someone to spot for you. You will need your gun with bpcr sights or scope, sight settings, a means of fouling control (blow tube or wet patch) sixty rounds of black powder x cast bullets ammo. I think anything else can be borrowed. If you have sight settings for 220 yards chickens or even 100yds we can likely get you on target. Yep seems like a dying sport till you go to Mexia for the state match or Raton for nationals.

Ok good deal. I have all that and a little more so I should be good hopefully! I have rough sight settings for 100 and 200 yards and a ballistics chart so hopefully that will be enough.

After I get settled hopefully I will be out there within the next month or so. I’ll go ahaead and get on the email list as well.

Just show up at YCSA, watch a match and get acquainted. You will never meet a better group of people. Let it be known you are getting started and need equipment, and you can probably buy everything you need from the other shooters. Do not worry about a spotter, but do take a lawn chair.
    Have mercy.

Yes, due to lack of attendence, the New Braunsville BPCR matches were discontinued mid 2017.

This thread is a little old but I thought I'd provide the following since I've just updated my 2020 shooting calendar.

    Wayne
    ==========================
As some of you already know, the Ft. Chadbourne Black Powder Silhouette Club closed last year after 25 years. The final match was held on May 19, 2019. The range land is being used for a solar farm.

TSRA Annual Mtg., TX Ranger Hall of Fame, Waco, TX
    Feb. 28-29

NRA Annual Mtg. & Convention, Nashville, TN, Music City Center
    April 16-19

Raton: (Note – NRA Big Bore BPCR Nationals move to Ridgeway, PA, Scope 7/28-29, Iron 7/30-31)
The .22BPCRA Nationals have moved from its original dates to 8/5-7 at the Whittington Center and is a 3-day, 60 shots/day 180 shot aggregate championship. Additionally there will be a 2-day Big Bore BPCR match (organized and managed by the HOTSA and Smithmoor clubs) held on 8/3-4, with sight-in & practice time on Sunday 8/2. Entry and registration info will be coming in the next few weeks. Be sure to call the Whittington Center in February for housing & RV arrangements.
    Aug. 2 Sight-in & practice
    Aug. 3-4 Big Bore BPCR (40 shots/day), scope & irons shoot side-by-side
    Aug. 5-7 22BPCRA Nationals (60 shots/day)

    Oklahoma Regional BPCR
Last year was the 1st time the match was held & it was excellent. The match is held at the OK City Gun Club, north of Ok City near Arcadia, OK. The covered range is excellent & the silhouettes are reset automatically. Several YCSA & HOTSA shooters attended last year & had a good time. Jeanne Ring and her husband Glenn run the match. If you’re not on Jeanne’s email list you can contact her at jeanne@mbo.net. She will send out the details and entry form most likely in March.
Tentative dates: Sept. 18-20 (assuming the same format at last year)
    Sept. 18 .22BPCR (60 shots/day)
    Sept 19-20 Big Bore BPCR (40 shots/day), scope & irons shoot side-by-side

Texas 2020 TSRA or Regional BPCR Match
No date, location or information available at this time that I’m aware of. Larry Hall (TSRA BPCR Director) scheduled & ran the match last year at the HOTSA (Heart of Texas Silhouette Association) range near Coolidge, TX. The attendance was down from previous years, most likely due to scheduling conflicts & changes. Hopefully whoever schedules the 2020 match will ensure it does not conflict with the Ok Regional, Raton & RidgewayNationals, or the 2-day YCSA club match.

YCSA Yaupon Creek BPCR matches Near Columbus, TX, http://www.yauponcreek.org/
Big Bore matches are held on the 2nd & 4th Sat. of each month with the exception of Nov. & Dec. & the 2-day Club Match in Oct. Nov. & Dec. matches are only on the 2nd Sat. of the month.
.22BPCR matches are on the 3rd Sat. of each month.
Check the separate website Big Bore & .22BPCR calendars to confirm. I believe all is correct with the exception of the 2-day big bore club match dates which should be on Oct. 10 & 11.

HOTSA BPCR matches Near Coolidge, TX, http://www.hotsa.org/index.php
The website has not been updated for some time & nothing is scheduled on the website calendar. The big bore matches are normally held on the 1st Saturday of each month, & I believe .22BPCR is on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

Graham Rifle & Pistol Club BPCR matches Near Graham, TX
Big Bore matches are on the 4th Sunday of the month, April through September.
.22BPCR matches are on the Saturday before the 4th Sunday.
To those of you who haven't been to Graham in a while, the range now has air conditioned restrooms, a new turkey line, and a 200 yard 22 silhouette range. Contact David Holt at 214-535-4201 (Text will generally get a quicker response from David) or Faye Nunn at 903-271-9826 for further information.

Austin Rifle Club (ARC) Near Manor, TX
Vintage Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Matches following modified 22BPCR rules are held on the 1st Sunday of each month using scaled down silhouettes from 40 to 100 meters. Contact Match Director Tim Lee (tim.lee@sbcglobal.net, 512-799-0308) to confirm match & gate code.

It seems that the HOTSA range near Mexia Tx has also closed. The Creedmoor shoot at Raton also seems iffy after last year.

    Notes for the Match

If you wish to change your entry (switch from scope to iron etc., or your classification has changed) please contact me via email or give me a call.

The deadline to enter is firm. It takes a lot of upfront work to put these matches on and the directors need time to do so. Last minute changes create much undue stress. We cannot refund monies after the deadline (unless the match is cancelled). We spend money in advance on lots of different things. We can’t afford to give money back at the last minute. Please withdraw before the deadline if you have too. We certainly hope you don’t and look forward to seeing you there.

The 22 match and the Big Bore match will stand on their own. No entry fee funds will be transferred from one match to the other.

We will not have a meal on Saturday evening. The response was 3 to 1 to use that money for prizes instead of having a meal.

I am sure we don’t have everyone’s email address, so please forward this entry to anyone you know that might be interested.

$100 is way too much for an entry fee to shoot a no name BPCR match. And you wonder why attendance is down?
