Ted Williams Model 53 bolt

Have owned a few Mausers in the past but didn't pay a lot of attention to bolt. What I'm trying to find out is if the bolt in pictures which came out of my Ted Williams 06 looks like a Mauser action or not. If it is then it's supposed to be pre-64. I know that these rifles (Sears) were based off of the Winchester model 70 (or is a 70).

That bolt in the OP photos is a push feed and decidedly NOT a Mauser type action or a pre-64 Winchester action.

It is indeed a post 64 push feed Winchester m70 with different style shroud made for Sears.

Yes it's a Sears, Roebuck, and Co. branded Winchester 70. I have thought many times to post here asking if someone knew the trick to taking the bolt apart, never got a round to it. I thoroughly scoured YouTube and the net, but no luck,,,,

pull back the sear, stick a coin in the gap, unscrew the shroud. Much like a 700 Rem.

Appreciate it. I heard that if it was in fact pre 64 it’d be worth some money. Still shoots well.

I used to own a post-64 Model 70. IIR, with the rifle cocked, move the safety to the half-way position, withdraw the bolt, unscrew the shroud-striker piece.

Nearly forgot....I think there's a small detent button on the shroud that must be depressed with your thumbnail before unscrewing the unit. It indexes the striker unit to the bolt body.
