Sears 30-06 ammo

I love old stuff. Got this in a box of reloading stuff from a neighbor not that long ago.

I still have some of the 30-06 Sears brass and it is stamped SEARS not FC. It is from the late 60's I believe. Sears was good stuff though. james

Deja vu! I just finished posting on another thread about Sears going out of business, and told the story about when the local Sears where I was living at the time stopped selling guns I picked up around 20 boxes each of Sears .30-06 and .30-30 ammo. I've still got at least 5 boxes of each, and the boxes look just like the one in the photo. It's always been my understanding that it was made for Sears by Winchester, but it's very likely that they used other manufacturers at different times as they were always open for the low bid.

All the rifles and shotguns that I remember being sold by Sears were made by Winchester but then at 77 I could be wrong (foggy memory). I have used 12 gauge shotgun shells from them, .22 lr , and even a couple of boxes of 30-06. And yes Robert, in the 40's and 50's the Sears catalogs were THE form of entertainment in outhouse. We never got indoor plumbing until 55, the same year we got a television and our first car. I have good memories of those days though. Take care guys, james

I have a box of Sears 7x57, 175 gr with 4 fired brass, the rest intact. I bought them long ago. I borrowed a rifle from my uncle, fired four to check zero and hunted with it in PA. My grandfather had brought it back from Cuba as a Spanish-American War trophy. I remember a very long barrel. It was just sitting in his basement with all his fishing gear.

Somewhere around here, there's a cigar box full of sized and deprimed .30-30 brass (haven't had a .30-30 in years). If memory serves, there's more than a few in that box carrying a "Sears" headstamp.
