You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.
A fender washer might do what you want. Super glue it to a block of metal and lay a sheet of coarse sand paper on a flat surface. sand to thickness. Soak in acetone to remove. Take a measurement over the block and washer and work from there. If you use 1" thick block and washer is .060 thick measurement should be 1.065 or so ( glue adds some). work down to 1.020 and remove. You can rough it down pretty quickly with a file also.
I can make you one this week on the waterjet , we have shim stock that thick but I don't think it's SS but I'll look around , is regular steel ok as alternative ?
