    .45 Winchester Magnum

Are there manuals out there that would have load data for a .45 Winchester Magnum?

    I load mine (T/C Conterder) 15% less than a 44 mag with 296, H110, AA9, 2400 then work up from there.
It's a good caliber, too bad it didn't catch on with shooters and hunters.
It's the only gun I have that's got a name, I call it the 'boom-whacker'.

I always wondered if you could use .45 Win Mag brass in a Ruger .45 Colt / .45acp Redhawk with moonclips and have an anti-material revolver.

The guy I got the Redhawk from said that he had used it to get the bullet closer to the barrel.

The second edition has it, lots of info with Hodgdon and Accurate powders.

Other powder manufacturers had it when it was popular, 1980- early 2000, If you have access to manuals from that time frame I think you will find more on it.

Only problem with Speer #11 is that they did not include OAL measurements for any of the loads in the book

Chiming in here...All of your major loading books show data for the 45WM....Accurate Arms...Nosler...Speer...Hodgdon.
Personally, I shoot a 14'' TC, 250gr HP, 15.8 grns B.D. My lead load shoots very accurately with 11 grns of Unique behind a 240 grn SWC. Keeps them in the black.

GONRA's standard .45 Win Mag Load: 230 grain .451 inch diameter Hornady 431592 bullet, 18.0 grains Blue Dot, Winchester Large Pistol Primers, 1.575 inch OAL.
Mucho fun to shoot in both AMT Automag IV and L. A. R. Grizzly semiauto pistols. New virgin Starline brass.
Check for free / loose chambering in the AMT Automag IV. Run completed round thru .45 ACP Lee Factory Crimp die if needed.

(CAUTION - If lettin' buddies shoot these, watchout for AMT Automag IV's VERY LIGHT trigger pull!
Am CERTAIN this is NOT safe for everybody in a large magnum pistol like this!
But AMT Automags in this caliber really shouldn't be shot much anyhow.
Be sure to use Molykote "G" MoS2 paste on the slide / frame rails when you do......)

Here's another load: 185 grain .452 inch diameter Remington FMJ 22891 bullet, 20.0 grains Blue Dot, Winchester Large Pistol Primers, 1.575 inch OAL max.

Excellent caliber for experimental tracers too. Etc. Etc.

I used 45 Win Mag brass in my Redhawk. I started with 45 schofield loads and worked up to mid-range 45 Colt loads. Probably could have went higher, but I was getting great accuracy and they were pleasant to shoot.

The T/C Contender loadbook has a fair amount of 45 WM loads. It also shows the true difference between a 10mm and 41 Mag. Todd/3leg
