What are the issues of getting multi caliber cans, for example something on a 450 bushmaster and using it on a 223?

They work, but dont give the best suppression for any platform. Dedicated caliber cans will always provide the best/most sound reduction.
Use a 30 mod on my 223 works fine
My 30 caliber can works well on both my 6.5 swede and my 223s. I originally bought it for my .308 but have since sold that rifle but, it also works well on my necked down 303 british.
I'll qualify that by stating that I've never tried any other cans other than the one I own now. It could be that there are more efficient cans and less efficient cans on the market. My can is self-serviceable so I can take it apart and clean it. If it were a .45 caliber can I might be tempted to search out a safe way to reduce the diameter of the thru-hole on the end so as to create better noise suppression. Fortunately, I'm happy with what I have now; except for the fact that when compared to the more expensive titanium models, it's a bit on the heavy side.
HollowPoint
I have seen many reviews where the titanium cans are worth the extra money due to them being longer lasting.
My 45 can is painful without ear pro on high velocity rounds like the 223. The internal volume is there to work very well but there is to much gas coming out the front of the suppressor. 22 caliber works fine on my 30 caliber though.

Some people measure success in Minutes of Angle
My 762 saker is quieter on my 556 rifles than my 556 saker.
The AUG isn't near as quiet at the Tavor but all are hearing safe as long as no one else is shooting. At 60+ I'm sure I have some hearing loss from fun sports.
